AVIATION METEOROLOGICAL ACTIVITIES

Aviation meteorological activities are carried out by the Department of Aviation Meteorology, which is a structural division of the Main Center for Hydrometeorological Analysis, Forecasting and Hydrometeorological Support of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.

The main activities in the field of meteorological servicing of the civil aviation are the following:

• organizational and methodical management of aeronautical meteorological stations and aerodrome meteorological office that are in the sphere of management of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine;
• new projects development and existing regulatory documents emprovement and implementation on the organization of meteorological civil aviation service;
• promoting the state policy implementation in the meteorological activities field, high-quality and safe meteorological air navigation service, taking into account the standards and recommendations of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Meteorological information for aviation operators at each civil aviation airfield of Ukraine is provided by various meteorological units that perform the functions of aerodrome meteorological office and aeronautical  meteorological stations located at the airfields of Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kropyvnytskyi, Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, Kryvyi Rih, Mykolaiv, Rivne, Uzhhorod, Kherson, Chernivtsi, Poltava, Sumy, Ternopil, Cherkasy. Meteorological service at Kyiv/Boryspil, Kyiv/Zhulyany, Kyiv/Antonov-1, Kyiv/Antonov-2 airfields is entrusted to the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Aviation Meteorological Center".

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center cooperates with the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, which carries out state regulation in the field of civil aviation, and with the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Aviation Meteorological Center" on methodical maintenance of the meteorological service  civil aviation support issues.
